Long Time No Update !

Welcome Back all you gypsies and pirates and stalkers of the night. I hope this page finds you well.

So, it's been way too long since we had an update here. Hopefully I can start filling all of you in on the crazy times we've been having here at MoonHowler Productions. Things have of course been a wild and wacky rollercoaster of good and bad that leaves one's teeth rattled, one's hair blown all about, and one's desire piqued to get on and ride it all over again. Maybe you lose some coins in the loops, but the adreneline rush makes up for the baubles you cannot buy.

But before I run out of track on that metaphor, lets get to some of the juicy bits of this tale. And since this is a long story I'm just going to bullet point the last two years or so and let you all catch up.

  • Summer 2003 - Johnny Depp makes pirates popular again
  • Having been called a pirate since I turned 18 (a number of years ago, sigh) I got to deal with call of "hey, its capt Jack!" for the next three years. But I suppose there are just not that many good looking guys with long hair, tall leather boots, a rakish bandana, and a rogueish grin running around these days. Getting ready for another summer of it when POTC 2 comes out this summer. Come on people, this is just the way I look.
  • Caused commotion a plenty at all the artshows that we shared with of friends at KeelHauled Studios, Nigel Sade and BlueBeard. The things that happen when the lot of us Pirates get together wouldn't be believed by mere mortals. Love you Brothers.
  • Dawn learned to blow fire with our friends Byl and Angel. Joel learned to perform with a flaming staff. I love the smell of lighter fluid in the evening.
  • "Sorrow" from the Cemetery Girls series wins ORIGINS Art Show Award in 2004
  • In 2005 we visited over twenty Haunted Houses across the country, not including the two we designed, built, and ran for the season.
  • The Bad Boys of Green Bay's Terror on the Fox Haunted House showed us the yummy evil goodness of 'Monster-itas'
  • Our Haunted House Consulting Business goes into overdrive with a number of interesting clients and attractions ranging in size from 1200 sq.ft. to 94,000 sq. ft.
  • Things get so busy with our 2005 haunt client that we have to give up all art show tours for the year. It was a huge show, with a lot of work that couldn't be put on hold. We desperately missed all the people who we only get to see at these shows. Know that you guys really make it special for us to do these shows.
  • We got the chance to assist our very good friend Will Edwards of Wild Hawk Entertainment on his amazing Film Project (which he is keeping very close to his chest until editting is complete). But I think I can say there are zombies and explosions, and a dashing leading man making the world a safer place. We built sets and ran effects, and basically did whatever was necessary to get this thing in the can.
  • We discovered the glory of Booze and Bacon Night.
  • We rediscovered the glory of Booze and Bacon night and improved upon it with the inclusion of a hot tub.
  • I think every project we take on now has to offer a hot tub and a kitchenette for after hours B&B R&R. :)
  • Pirates make a splash in Madison WI with an amazing new Pirate Murder Mystery event that our good friend Michael Keeney put together. Look for these to becopme regular events at a Madison Area Resort Hotel.
  • We got to see our friends in the band Bella Morte open for this Misfits in Washington DC this past fall. If you don't know this band, please check them out. We known them for the last seven years and they just keep getting better. If you get the chance to see them live, I cannot recommend it enough. We love these guys and can't wait for their next album in September.
  • MoonHowler Productions is going overseas. Our amazing friend Alan of AEO Studios and head of the Halloween event at Ocean Park in Hong Kong, has tapped the talent and resources of MoonHowler Productions to help make this years show outshine the recently opened Hong Kong Disney. We've worked on numerous concept drawings for the 7 Haunted Houses that this event will house and designed two of them. So if there is something special you want from us before Halloween, you better place the order before the end of July.
  • Speaking of special projects, We just got done doing the artwork for URN's latest album, Dancing with the Demigods. Dawn did the cover, while Joel did the interior portraits of the band. It was an great project for a bunch of people we really like. Cheers my friends, may this new album take you far.
  • And because we can't ever seem to slow down, or even just maintain things on cruise control, we are also starting a volunteer group called the Autumn Angels. This way we can give back to the awesome volunteers that we have worked with these many years and work with them to make our community a little better for everyone. The Autumn Angels are looking for volunteers and projects to work on to help the Milwaukee Area Community. If you have a project, or want to help out, contact us.
  • Unfortunately, we will be forced to miss another year of major art shows. We will not be displaying at ORIGINS, GENCON, or DragonCon this year. There are a number of reasons for this decision, but this is not the forum for them. Know that the decision has nothing to do with shows themselves or the people we see at them. We will miss you all and I hope that we will be able to tour the convention circuit again in 2007.

I know there are many more tales to be told, and stories I've neglected to include (hanging over the Falls in Niagra, howling at the full moon rising over the Smokey Mountains, exploring a deserted Myrtle Beach at three in morning after the hurricans blew through, etc.) It has been an amazing ride and its just ramping up again. I hope we get to share many great experience with you the visitors of this site, our friends both near and far. These experiences would be poor shadows of what they were if not for the people we shared them with, if not for all you out there.

Thank You Everyone.                               ---------
